According to data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on December 8, the UK smoking population fell to 14% for the first time, while the e-cigarette population increased to the highest ever.

(ONS) annual report on vaping prevalence among adults, smoking prevalence, shows:

1. In 2014, the e-cigarette coverage rate in the UK was 3.7%, and in 2020, the e-cigarette coverage rate was 6.4%, which is roughly equivalent to 3.3 million people.

2. Adult smokers in the UK make up 13.8% of the population, the lowest percentage since 2015.

3. During the period of the new coronavirus, the smoking rate has risen sharply, reaching 16.3% in August and falling to 13.8% after the end of 2020.

John Dunn, director general of the British Vaping Industry Association, believes that e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking. According to data from the former Public Health Office of England, more than 95% of people agree with this view, and more people use e-cigarettes. It's a good thing to cut down on smoking later.

More and more health care departments support more use of e-cigarettes to help smokers, which is also gradually eliminating information that attempts to discredit e-cigarettes, allowing consumers to slowly transition from smoking combustible tobacco to e-cigarettes.
