The latest e-cigarette bill in Ontario, Canada

Ontario, Canada has proposed a new vaping bill to prevent teens from vaping:

1.1. Raise the legal age for the sale of e-cigarette products to 21

2.2. Prohibit the promotion of e-cigarettes and limit the sales of e-cigarette stores

3.3. Ontario authorities report annual e-cigarette use

The latest bill has strong support from the Lung Health Association and the Canadian Cancer Society, both of which say greater government oversight is needed. Statistics from Health Canada show that symptoms of vaping or vaping-related illness can include cough, fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

Rob Cunningham of the Canadian Cancer Society said: Marijuana sales are limited to specialty stores, but cigarettes and vaping products are sold in convenience stores and gas stations.

At present, this new e-cigarette bill has not been formally enacted for the following reasons:

1. The Royal College of Physicians has proven for seven consecutive years that e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful than cigarettes

2. The largest form of preventable death in the country is smoking, especially combustible smoking

3. 1.1 million of Canada's 4 million smokers opt for less harmful e-cigarettes
