Flavored nicotine products should not be restricted in the new legislation, because the taste of e-cigarette oil is very important to e-cigarette users. Said the Irish e-cigarette representative.

Members of the Irish e-cigarette Suppliers Association (ivva) will debate the proposal, and the joint health committee will meet with representatives of the Irish e-cigarette Suppliers Association on February 15 to conduct a pre legislative review of the overall plan of the public health (tobacco and nicotine inhalation products) Bill.

Proposed legislation:

1. It is prohibited to sell e-cigarettes, tobacco and nicotine related products to minors under the age of 18

2. Prohibit minors under the age of 18 from selling nicotine related products

According to the Irish Heart Foundation, the "explosive growth" of e-cigarette smoking among Irish teenagers has led to the first rise in smoking rates in this age group in a decade.

Members of the Irish e-cigarette Association expressed their opposition to the ban on flavored nicotine for the following reasons:

1. The flavor ban will have a negative impact on tobacco harm reduction and consumer choice

2. The choice of electronic cigarette oil flavor is one of the reasons to encourage adult smokers to switch to electronic cigarettes
